Building the team and roles
This analysis aims to identify the potential target audiences as well as the competition.
- Find a method to make use of our data and to develop it further.
- Develop the front-end part of the project.
- UI graphic development, in charge of the design of the website and the mascot.
- UX development, focusing as much as possible on the layout of the website and its content
As there were four of us, we decided to form two teams, one focused on development and the other on design. I was in the design team with Alexandre Potakowski, while the dev team was made up of Nicolas Prémont and Diego Tellier
Creating the beer catalogue
With one of the members of our group, we decided to focus on the graphic design and on creating the website's content. The main purpose of our website is to compare the different beers offered by several bars, in order to show customers the ones offering the best value for money for a well-lubricated night out using the RQR formula: the higher the score, the more likely you are to get drunk while paying as little as possible.
To achieve this goal, we planned to create a beer catalogue, ranking the beers from the least to the most worthwhile. We also imagined a filter system for choosing a more specific category of beer (pils, blonde, red, etc.) as well as a filter for all the bars listed.
This system is certainly interesting, but it is of no use for any bar or drink that is not on our list. To solve this problem, we came up with the idea of directly providing a formula to apply if you cannot find your beer. In addition, using the same formula, we had fun calculating an average for the bars listed, so that the thriftiest among us know which bar to choose.
In conclusion
This project was a rewarding group experience. It gave our team the freedom to work in the areas where each of us felt most comfortable. It was motivating to see everyone's commitment to this project, carried out in a fairly short period of time. Working as a group also sharpened our critical thinking and strengthened our ability to accept our mistakes, which we corrected together.
This project clearly had a positive impact on my later work, and it made me truly appreciate collaborative projects.
