Project description

The Camera XYZ-5000 project explores the user interface of next-generation professional cameras. The goal was to simplify complex controls while maintaining surgical precision for videographers.

We worked on a strict visual hierarchy, using high contrast and monospace typography for maximum legibility in difficult shooting conditions. Every interaction was designed to be accessible even with gloves, favouring large touch areas and instant visual feedback.

The purpose of the project

This case study aims to experiment with the following points in order to create increasingly ambitious projects:

3D animation in Figma: Integrate a frame-by-frame 3D animation in Figma to enrich the design process.
Imaginary camera landing page: Create an illustrative page for a fictional camera product, highlighting the 3D features.
Acquiring 3D skills: Get familiar with 3D modelling and animation software to strengthen practical skills.

Turning a Blender animation into a Figma component

After selecting a 3D model and applying its texture, I started the animation phase. Once that was done, the next step was to import this animation into Figma, with the aim of creating an animation similar to the one for Apple's AirPods.

On to the rest of the design?

The primary goal is to establish a clear and legible hierarchy for an optimal user experience (UX), and to make scrolling dynamic through micro-animations.

To add more personality to this project, I decided to incorporate the colour purple. It is notably associated with creativity and dreams, while providing additional contrast. The use of black and white underlines the professional nature of the product.
